Abstract
The implementation of sustainable soil management practices is essential for familiar peri-urban horticultural production. Soil degradation has been and is a problem that we must face in order to ensure food sovereignty in the region. From the extension agency of INTA La Plata and in coordination with the horticultural PL (424) of the AMBA experimental, we work with producers to address the issue and find solutions that can be adopted. The objective of the work was to evaluate over time the effect of green manures incorporation to the soil. Although the work is still under evaluation, it was observed after two years a tendency to decrease salinity, sodicity and MO generation in the soils. In contrast, the organic amendment traditionally used in the region (chicken manure) did not have positive effects and led to soil degradation. It is concluded that the use of green manures is an alternative that improves edaphic properties and provides sustainable use of soils.
